Where Do You Stand On Veganism?

It’s a true delight to see veganism continuing to grow and become more accepted in todays society.

But my question to you is this, do you or are you continuing to share your message with others, and how much do you really want to bring Ethical Living into your life or those around you?

How serious are you about living the life of an ethical consumer and helping educate others in a positive manner anyway?

For me I think it’s pretty simple really . . . afterall vegan living is so much easier on your health, the environment and we can never forget the animals which we’ve saved along the way. So have fun with veganism, enjoy vegan living for what it is and continue to show the world by your own ‘personal’ example and messages (in whatever way you feel is appropriate or needed). People do notice (even if they choose not to acknowledge the truth or ignore the issues of today). In my humble opinion sometimes us humans need a little *shaking* to wake up from our immunity and sleepwalking through life (I sure did, it took me a while to awaken all those years ago). But now that I’m here I figure I may as well share my message with the world to the best of my ability.

There are always going to be doubters as well as believers. Where do you stand? . . .  Doubters continue to doubt and their life remains the same, believers create and manifest and their lives change forever and for the better.

“You must not loose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean: if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” (Gandhi Quotation) I personally feel this statement to be true as a vegan, I might not be-able to help/save all of the animals in need, but the one/s I can/do save are forever gracious for a life of peace and harmony that is why I stand up for VEGANISM it is the way of the future for a peaceful harmonious planet in all ways.

Animals Australia & Save Babe

I received my copy of Animals Today in the mail just yesterday, and I’m most impressed with this issue. (vol 14)

‘Animals Australia’ (AA) do amazing work within the animal protection body. Since 1980 they have been uniting organisations and individuals in Australia who share the conviction that animal suffering is unnecessay and unjustified.

Their vision is for a world where animals are not exploited for profit or entertainment and where all animal suffering is eliminated. And their goal is to significantly and permanently improve the welfare of all animals in Australia.

As a supporter of ’AA’ myself I can highly recommend utilizing their way of life and helping them be a bigger voice for animals.

If you are interested in finding out more about ‘AA’ or you’d like to subscribe to their great magazine then visit the site/s today at: www.AnimalsAustralia.org or www.SaveBabe.com .

Delish Asparagus Soup

A few days back I got a hold of some gorgeous fresh asparagus, I don’t often eat asparagus due to the fact that we rarely see it around our local markets, but this called for a celebration . . . and soup was on my mind.

So here it is, a very quick, easy and delish Asparagus Soup

You will need:

  • 2 bunch asparagus
  • 3 cups vegetable stock
  • 40-60g vegan margarine
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 3 Tbspn plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground coriander
  • 1 Tbspn fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 cups of soy milk

Method:

  1. Wash and trim asparagus (cut off the woody part of the stem)
  2. Cook the asparagus in lightly salted water for 5-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Put the asparagus in a saucepan with the stock, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 20 minutes, until soft. Drain and set the reserve stock aside.
  4. Melt the margarine in a saucepan, add the onion and fry until soft. Stir in the flour, then gradually whisk in the reserved stock till it thickens.
  5. Next stir in the asparagus, seasonings, coriander and lemon. Simmer for approx 10 minutes, then cool slightly and put through a blender. (I put the soy milk in at this point when cooled and blending).
  6. Reheat and serve with crusty bread sticks.

(NB: this recipe can be frozen)

The Vegan Food Pyramid

I’ve seen quite a few Veg*n Food Pyramids in the past few years, and this one is another great example showing you a suggested guide to healthy choices each and every day. (You can even download the pyramid to stick up on your fridge or give to your friends and family).

The Vegan Food Pyramid which you find on this site: www.VeganFoodPyramid.com is designed to show a suggested daily intake of food. As you may notice, this pyramid is slightly, at the least, and drastically, at most, different then many other pyramids out there. One difference is the lack of animal based foods. Our bodies do not NEED this to thrive and healthfully survive.

Choose Cruelty Free List

Often people can get a little overwhelmed when trying to sort out the REAL cruelty-free products form the fake. Well you don’t have to be frustrated over this issue, there is an organization who has done all the work for you.

‘Choose Crulety Free’ . . .

CCF is an independent, non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. They publish and distribute the Prefferred Products List (PPL), a booklet identifying companies which operate under a cruelty free ethic. All companies on the list must supply CCF with legally binding guarantess confirming that they are in no way involved in the testing of products on animals or other cruel practices. In the PPL they try to provide consumers with as much information as possible so they can choose products according to personal ethical standards.

CCF is a positive action campaign aimed to make people aware of their power and their responsibilty as consumers. When is comes right down to it we are the ones who make or break companies!

If you would like to find out more information on CCF and their PPL or Magazine you can read more at:
