How Much DO You Bring Ethical Living Into Your Surrounding World?

Isn’t it a delight that Veganism truly continues to flow and grow all over the Globe.

Are you continuing to commit to a life of cruelty-free living by actually showing others what Veganism really is, rather than keeping your thoughts to yourself?

Just how much DO you want to bring Ethical Living into your life and the World around you?

How serious ARE you about living the life of an ethical consumer and helping educate others in a positive manner about cruelty-free revelations?

It’s pretty simple really … after all vegan living is so much easier on your health, the environment and we can never forget about the animals lives it saves along the way. So have fun, enjoy vegan living, and continue to show your own *ethical* message to the world (in whatever way you feel is appropriate or needed). After all in my humble opinion sometimes us humans need a little *shaking* to wake up from our immunity and sleepwalking through life to be shown the REAL Issues in today’s world.

Continue to show the world by your own example, as Gandhi said, “You must be the Change you want to see in the World.”

It’s that simple, it can be that easy, and so why then do so many fall by the way side? Because they don’t understand just how powerful they really are when living by example.

They think creating a life of ethicalness must surely involve some more complicated strategies, or worse yet depletion of one’s favorite foods!

There are doubters and there are believers. Where do YOU stand?

Doubters continue to doubt and their life remains the same, believers create and manifest and their lives change for the betterment of al of humanity and continue to do so along the journey each and every day.

Believe in the simplicity, believe in the power, believe in yourself and above all (also well state by Gandhi)…

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

Now I personally feel the above statement to be true as a vegan, for example I might not be-able to neither help nor save ALL the Animals out there that need a voice, however the ones I can and do save from torture, death and cruelty are forever gracious for a life of peace and harmony in return. So make sure you keep at it my vegan friends, give it all you’ve got to give, then some more…  In this time of universal deceit, telling the truth and especially showing it is such a revolutionary act on behalf of the entire Planet… it’s such a selfless compassionate quest that it cannot be mistaken for anything but NOBILITY and an absolute Blessing to Mother Earth!

What Your Body does within 1 Hour of Drinking Soda

According to the Nutrition Research Center, this is what happens to your body within 1 hour of drinking a can of soda:

-10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system, which is 100 percent of your recommended daily intake. You’d normally vomit from such an intake, but the phosphoric acid cuts the flavor.

-20 minutes: Your blood sugar skyrockets. Your liver attempts to maximize insulin production in order to turn high levels of sugar into fat.

-40 minutes: As your body finishes absorbing the caffeine, your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, and your liver pumps more sugar into the bloodstream. Adenosine receptors in your brain are blocked preventing you from feeling how tired you may actually be.

-45 minutes: Your body increases dopamine production, causing you to feel pleasure and adding to the addictiveness of the beverage. This physical neuro response works the same way as it would if we were consuming heroin.

>60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, which boosts your metabolism a bit further. High doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners compound this effect, increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (You have to GO!) Your body will eliminate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was otherwise heading to your bones. And you will also flush out the sodium, electrolytes and water. Your body has eliminated the water that was in the soda. And in the process it was infused with nutrients and minerals your body would have otherwise used to hydrate your system or build body cells, bones, teeth.

-60 minutes: The sugar crash begins. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You start feeling like crap. Time to grab another?

Red Meat Primes Body for Intestinal Germ

Here’s an interesting ‘Meaty’ story published in The Age today:

A steady diet of red meat makes the body more susceptible to a virulent form of intestinal bug that can cause bloody diarrhoea and even death, according to a study to be published on Thursday.

Researchers in the United States and Australia said persistently eating red meat appears to prime the body for exposure to this potent form of Escherichia coli (E. coli).

The meat naturally contains sugar molecules called Neu5Gc that accumulate in cells lining the intestines and blood vessels.

These molecules also act as a sort of magnet for the toxins exuded by the E. coli strain, thus making it easier for the poisons to enter the blood stream, they said.

“Prior meat eating would set one up for the toxin to bind when it shows up,” explained Ajit Varki, a researcher at the University of California at San Diego, one of the study’s co-authors.

The Neu5Gc molecule is virtually absent in other foods such as fish, poultry and vegetables and fruits, Varki told AFP in an email exchange.

The investigation, published in the London-based journal Nature, is led by Travis Beddoe of Monash University in Melbourne.

In experiments, the team first tested the affinity of the E. coli bacteria for Neu5Gc using cultured human cells in a lab dish.

“The human samples showed the presence of the Neu5Gc toxin binding sites in the gut and the kidney, the two target organs for the disease,” said Varki.

The researchers then confirmed the positive results using genetically modified mice in which the gene which naturally produced Neu5Gc was suppressed.

E. coli is found in the lower intestine of animals and humans. Many of its strains are harmless, but others can cause serious, sometimes fatal health problems.

There are about 75,000 cases of E. coli-related to food poisoning every year in the United States, including an average of 60 fatalities, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Most outbreaks have been traced to undercooked ground beef tainted with faecal matter post-slaughter.

E. coli can also be transmitted through unwashed vegetables grown in farmland irrigated by sewage-contaminated water.

Good News For Veggies: Personal Values Deceive Taste Buds

ScienceDaily (July 18, 2008) — Many heavy meat eaters believe they eat a lot of meat because of the taste. But according to groundbreaking new research the reason that a beef burger tastes better than a veggie burger to some people has more to do with values than actual taste.
See also:

Authors Michael W. Allen (University of Sydney), Richa Gupta (University of Nashville), and Arnaud Monnier (National Engineer School for Food Industries and Management, France) conducted a series of studies that examined the symbolic meaning of foods and beverages. They found that when it came to tasting meat or soft drinks, what influenced participants was what they thought they had eaten rather than what they actually ate.

The authors note that meat has an association with social power, and people who scored high in the authors’ Social Power Value Endorsement measure believed that a meat-containing item tasted better than a vegetarian alternative, even when both products were actually identical (one was mis-represented). Similarly, participants who supported the values symbolized by Pepsi (Exciting Life, Social Power, and Recognition) gave a more favorable rating to the product they thought was Pepsi—even though they were drinking the low-price Woolworth cola.

Participants were told that they would taste either a beef sausage roll or a vegetarian alternative roll, and that they would drink either a Pepsi or a Woolworth Homebrand cola. Some received the item they were told they would receive and some were given the similar-tasting item.  Then they filled out a questionnaire about values and taste, along with their current food and soft drink consumption.

“Our present findings may have implications for efforts to promote better eating habits,” write the authors. “Heavy meat eaters claim that they eat meat because it tastes better than other foods, such as meat substitutes. Our results challenge that claim. Participants who ate the vegetarian alternative did not rate the taste and aroma less favorably than those who ate the beef product. Instead, what influenced taste evaluation was what they thought they had eaten and whether that food symbolized values that they personally supported … strategies that might persuade heavy meat eaters to change their diet include changing the cultural associations of fruits and vegetables to encompass values that meat eaters endorse (e.g., power and strength), or challenging heavy meat eaters’ assumptions about what tastes good by using in-store (blind) taste tests or showing them results of studies such as this one.”
